4.5 The ``Open Excision'' option

In this simple option, the user can excise a portion of the RNA, such as an intervening sequence, and retain the historical numbering of the sequence in the resulting folding. The user enters a beginning base number, i and an end base number, j, and the program excises bases ri to ri inclusive and ligates the ends together. In the closed excision, bases ri and ri are not excised. They are forced to pair with one another and only the intervening stretch is excised.
