Free energy of unfolded state?

Hi, Mfold newbie here, so apologies if I'm missing the obvious (likely). My group has been using the DNA Folding Form, and while MFOLD provides free energies for various folded states, we're uncertain what is the free energy of the unfolded state (no basepairs). It seems intuitive that it should be zero and all other free energies are measured with respect to it, but we're unable to reproduce some published work making that assumption. So I just wanted to confirm that, indeed, the free energy of the unfolded state is zero.

Thanks in advance for any pointers!
